Overview
Under grants provided by the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg foundation, GHHI offers health and safety repairs to homeowners over the age of 55 in Baltimore City. In many cases, these services can also be braided with other services that GHHI offers, such as weatherization services.
Who is it For?
Services are provided free of charge to qualifying individuals and families who are homeowners in Baltimore City. There must be an adult resident over the age of 55. There are additional income requirements. For property owners or families not meeting grant qualifications, the Coalition may be able to assist with application assistance for similar services. What’s Included:
The Aging in Place (AiP) program includes the GHHI Comprehensive Assessment, in which a trained GHHI assessor will come to your home and look for hazards to remediate. If there are hazards identified that meet the program’s specifications, the GHHI in-house work crew will remediate them free of charge for the homeowner. Eligible services can include:
- Installation of grab bars
- Fixing stairs and carpeting
- Fixing of hand rails
- Insulation to keep the home dry and safe
- Mold remediation
- Lead remediation
- Other services as necessary
