Vice President for Climate, Energy & Equity
Melanie Santiago-Mosier is a nationally recognized, award-winning energy and utilities changemaker and thought leader, implementing a vision for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in and through clean energy. She serves as the Vice President for Climate, Energy & Equity for the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative, where she leads GHHI’s work advancing policies and programs that support healthy, energy efficient, and carbon-free housing for all Americans. In all her work, she ensures the pursuit of the highest strategic goals while embedding principles of equity and justice into all areas of focus. Ms. Santiago-Mosier leads a team working to ensure greater societal, economic, environmental, and climate impacts by increasing investment of climate and energy efforts into measures to improve health outcomes. She and the Climate, Energy & Equity team develop policy and program best practices, advocate for policy alignment, engage in thought leadership, implement and demonstrate best practices with partnering agencies, and partner with frontline communities to advance climate and energy justice.
Ms. Santiago-Mosier most recently served as the Deputy Director for the Clean Energy Group and the Clean Energy States Alliance. Before joining CEG and CESA, Ms. Santiago-Mosier served as the Managing Director for Access & Equity for Vote Solar, where her work focused on implementing the organization’s vision for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Ms. Santiago-Mosier has worked to advance clean energy policy for over a decade. Her experience includes leading the government affairs efforts for organizations such as the Maryland Public Service Commission and Washington Gas Energy Services, after serving as counsel and policy analyst for the Maryland General Assembly. She also served as a regional policy director for SunEdison. In 2015, she was named one of Maryland’s “Leading Women” by The Daily Record, Maryland’s premier business and legal news publication. In 2018, she won the C3E award for Advocacy from the Department of Energy, Stanford University, MIT, and Texas A&M. In 2019, she was awarded a WRISE Honor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by Women in Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy. In 2020, she was named one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women” by The Daily Record. Ms. Santiago-Mosier is an attorney licensed to practice law in Maryland. She holds her JD from the University of Maryland School of Law and her BA from St. John’s College. In 2021, she earned a certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University.
